Six Hundred Teams to Participate in Three-Day Golf Tournament Along the Grand Strand
July 14, 2009, Myrtle Beach, S.C. – Burroughs & Chapin golf courses will play host to the 600 teams of golfers competing in the 12th annual Father & Son Team Classic to be held July 16-18, 2009. Farmstead Golf Links, The Resort Course at Grande Dunes, Myrtlewood Golf Club, River Hills Golf & Country Club and Pine Lakes Country Club will serve as five of the 11 host courses with Burroughs & Chapin accommodation property, The Marina Inn, providing rooms for the golfers.
Entering its 12th year, the national tournament has become the largest father-son golf event in the world, and is open to any father/son type relationships including grandfathers and grandsons to uncles and nephews. Teams from 45 states and seven countries are scheduled to compete in 2009 with more than $250,000 in team prizes to be awarded.
The Resort Course at Grande Dunes, the 2009 National Golf Course of the Year, will serve as tournament headquarters and will host the Father & Son Skills Challenge, the Demo Alley, with the game’s top equipment manufacturers and Saturday’s award ceremony.
