GOLF MAGAZINE RANKS MYRTLE BEACH'S TIDEWATER GOLF CLUB AND GRANDE DUNES RESORT GOLF CLUB AMONG TOP 20 IN SOUTH CAROLINA

Award-Winning Burroughs & Chapin Golf Management Courses Are Honored As Stand-Outs In Prestigious List Of “The Best Courses Near You”

August 13, 2010, Myrtle Beach, S.C. — Burroughs & Chapin Golf Management announced today that two of its premier golf courses, Tidewater Golf Club and the Grande Dunes Resort Golf Course, have been named in the top 20 best courses in South Carolina by Golf Magazine. The list appears in the September issue of the publication.

“It is a tremendous honor for two of our courses to be listed among the top 20 in South Carolina,” said Bob Swezey, executive vice president of resort operations at Burroughs & Chapin, Company, Inc. “Our team and owner are thrilled that both Tidewater and Grande Dunes received this recognition, especially with such well-respected company.”

Tidewater spans the Little River Neck peninsula from the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway to the tidal salt water marshes of Cherry Grove and the Atlantic Ocean. Earlier this year, it was named one of the 2010 “Best Courses You Can Play” in South Carolina by Golfweek. To this day, it remains the only layout that has ever been named "Best New Course" by both Golf Digest and Golf Magazine (1990).

In 2009, Tidewater underwent five weeks of renovations to improve its tees and greens, as well as enhance its view of the Atlantic Ocean. The project concentrated on enlarging, leveling and re-sodding all tee boxes; adding new sets of tees to enhance the playability and strategies of the design; pruning trees on the course; installing Erosion Barrier Tubing on the 10th hole for erosion control and beautification; and installing added drainage in select fairways and greens to enhance turf health.

The Grande Dunes Resort Club has a dramatic design that offers panoramic views of the Intracoastal Waterway and includes numerous elevation changes, wide Bermuda grass fairways and acres of lakes. It was named the “2009 National Golf Course of the Year” by the National Golf Course Owners Association. This spring, Grande Dunes was named one of the top five “stay & play” locations in South Carolina by the South Carolina Golf Course Ratings Panel.

AFTER 20 YEARS, TIDEWATER GOLF CLUB & PLANTATION IN MYRTLE BEACH, S.C., AREA CONSISTENTLY GAINING RECOGNITION FROM TOP GOLF MAGAZINES

Recently-Renovated Course Continues To Provide Golfers With Breathtaking Views And Challenging Experience For Any Skill Level

August 16, 2010, Myrtle Beach, S.C. — Few courses in the United States have a consistent track record of receiving awards and accolades. But since opening 20 years ago, Tidewater Golf Club & Plantation in North Myrtle Beach, S.C., has received top recognition every single year. In fact, it remains the only layout that has ever been named "Best New Course" by both Golf Digest and Golf Magazine (1990).

Tidewater entered this milestone year fresh off a series of renovations to improve its tees, greens and view of the ocean. In recent months, the course has been honored as a top course in the state by both Golf Magazine and Golfweek.

The recognition is well-deserved, as Tidewater continues to offer unparalleled challenges and facilities to golfers who travel from all over the country. The course, which opened in early 1990, spans the Little River Neck peninsula from the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway to the tidal salt water marshes of Cherry Grove and the Atlantic Ocean. The course challenges even the best players without ever punishing a well-hit shot, while also providing an experience that is enjoyable to players of all skill levels.

“It's hard to believe that Tidewater, a gem among courses in Myrtle Beach and in the Southeast, has provided challenging games to golfers for two decades,” said Bob Swezey, executive vice president of resort operations at Burroughs & Chapin, Company, Inc. “We are very proud of the course's strong reputation and looking forward to many more years of exhilarating Tidewater golf.”

Tidewater was recently ranked in the top 20 best courses in South Carolina by Golf Magazine. The list will appear in the September issue of the publication. Earlier this season, it was named one of the 2010 “Best Courses You Can Play” in South Carolina by Golfweek.

In 2009, Tidewater underwent five weeks of renovations to improve its tees and greens, as well as enhance its view of the Atlantic Ocean. The project focused on enlarging, leveling and re-sodding all tee boxes; adding new sets of tees to enhance the playability and strategies of the design; pruning trees on the course; installing Erosion Barrier Tubing on the 10th hole for erosion control and beautification; and installing additional drainage in select fairways and greens to enhance turf health.

Tidewater is a classic design, modeled after courses like the Merion Golf Club and Pine Valley
Golf Club, and features multiple landing areas on each hole. It flows with the natural contours of the land and its numerous elevation changes, which are unusual for the Grand Strand, add to the beauty and uniqueness of the course. Tidewater has large TifEagle Bermuda grass greens and Bermuda 419 fairways.
Tidewater Golf Club encompasses 560 acres and offers golfers a feeling of seclusion. Each hole is set off by itself and natural buffers separate the golf course from the surrounding community.

BURROUGHS & CHAPIN GOLF MANAGEMENT RAISES $27,890 TO BENEFIT PATRIOT GOLF DAY

Nine B & C Golf Courses Hosted Fund Raisers for Military Families, September 4-7

September 25, 2009, Myrtle Beach, S.C. – Burroughs & Chapin Golf Management announced today that $27,890 was raised during the third annual Patriot Golf Day event, which was held September 4 - 7 at Burroughs & Chapin golf courses. All proceeds will go to Folds of Honor Foundation, an organization that provides scholarship opportunities to the families of soldiers who have been injured or killed in the line of duty. Since the inception of the Patriot Golf Day event in 2007, Burroughs & Chapin Golf Management has raised $56,400 for the cause.

Nine Burroughs & Chapin Golf Management courses participated (Myrtlewood Golf Club, Pine Lakes Country Club, The Resort at Grande Dunes, The Members Club at Grande Dunes, Tidewater Golf Club & Plantation, Farmstead Golf Links, Meadowlands Golf Club, River Hills Golf & Country Club and Arcadian Shores Golf Club) and used many methods to help raise funds including donating $5 from every paid greens fee; rewarding each donation of $20 or more with a complimentary round; securing contributions from men and women’s member associations; hosting raffles at the course; and encouraging golfers to pay with American Express cards in order to earn American Express’s matching contributions.

Many golfers can say that they’ve played 36 holes in a day but to help raise money for Patriot Golf Day, seven B & C Golf Management golf professionals banded together to play as many holes as possible at The Members Club on Saturday, September 5. The professionals accepted pledges from the community and each played 100 holes from 6:00 a.m. until sundown.

"I am very proud of what our B & C Golf Management PGA professionals, our golfers and the Myrtle Beach community accomplished to honor the brave men and women who are serving our county in the United States military," said Mike Buccerone senior director for Grande Dunes and Pine Lakes Clubs and Amenities. “We’ve participated in the previous two Patriot Golf Day events but worked hard to make the 2009 Patriot Golf Day a bigger success.”
